New Director of Development Joins The KITM Team
ST. LOUIS (February 16, 2022) – Kids In The Middle (KITM), a nonprofit agency, is pleased to announce the addition of Sherry Nelson as the new Director of Development. Nelson previously served as the Director of Advancement for Pianos for People. She brings over eight years of development experience.
“Sherry is a proven fundraiser who has a track record of establishing relationships with donors and building and growing revenue for organizations,” says KITM CEO Katy Walter. “Her passion for mental health and the work we do makes her the ideal candidate.”
Nelson holds a BA in Psychology from Northeastern College and an MSW from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She currently serves as a Jazz St. Louis Young Friends Board Member, where she supports the development department, participates in fundraising asks, and plans events coordinated by the young friends.
Sherry Nelson, Director of Development, said, “I am thrilled to join the Kids In The Middle team. I know from the interview process that this was an organization I wanted to be a part of now. This role allows me to combine my passion for mental health and my passion for development. It really is the perfect fit for me, and I cannot wait to work with Katy, the Board, and the entire team at Kids In The Middle.”
In the new position, Nelson will continue to grow both the KITM’s fund development and marketing initiatives. Her proven ability to plan, organize, and direct all fundraising efforts, along with her experience in overseeing the development and implementation of marketing strategies, makes her an asset to the organization.
